Scaling and polishing
This professional cleaning procedure involves the careful removal of hard deposits or calculus (tartar) that build up on the teeth. If there is a lot of tartar, two or three visits may be necessary.
Teeth whitening
A cosmetic procedure that involves the use of mild bleaching materials to gently lighten the colour of your teeth.
Restoration of decayed/broken teeth
Carried out using composite or silver amalgam.
Aesthetic enhancements
If you are not happy with the appearance of your teeth then there are various enhancement procedures that may be carried out. For instance we can give you composite fillings, veneers and crowns.
Bridges
A bridge replaces a missing tooth (or teeth) using the adjacent teeth as a support. Some bridges have crowns at each end, others are fixed to the surface of the teeth next to the gap.
Just like crowns and veneers, bridges can be made from a variety of different materials. High-end porcelain bridges are designed to emulate your natural teeth as closely as possible so no one can tell you are missing a tooth.
Implants
Dental implants are a way of replacing missing teeth. The implants themselves are metal structures, much like a screw, made of titanium alloys. They are placed into your jawbone in a precise and highly specialised procedure carried out in a dental clinic under local anaesthetic or sedation. After a minimum of three months healing (to give a chance for the implant to integrate into the bone), the implant is exposed and a replacement tooth can be attached on top.
Veneers
A veneer is a thin slice of porcelain that is made to precisely fit over your tooth.
Although veneers are always made of porcelain they are specially designed to emulate your natural teeth as closely as possible in both look and feel, so no one can tell it's not a natural tooth.
Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position.
